“The War on Drugs” The True Freedom Series Legalization as it was before the 1920’s By D. Bourne
This is the second in a large series of articles/blogs on the current “War on Drugs” and how all drugs should be legalized. It will examine many of the various aspects as to why drugs should be completely legal as they were prior to 1914 without government oversight and regulation. It will also cover why even though statistics show and have shown for years that it makes much more sense for drugs to be legal as it increases safety, decreases use, lowers taxes among other positive things they still remain illegal. Please Note: Due to current knowledge along with research already obtained and or not yet obtained, not all of these articles are in a specific or chronological order. But each article is written to stand alone and as part of the series.
Part 1A Self Ownership and Your Right to Consume Drugs: Your Rights in Actual Situations Involving Government Agents
As stated in Part 1 based on the right everyone is born with of self-ownership, you have the right to consume whatever you want regardless of what the “government” based on fictional authority backed by force and violence says (to read more on self-ownership and the right to consume whatever you want see(http://nonpartisanlibertyforall.com/2016/05/the-war-on-drugs-and-why-all-drugs-and-other-illegal-substances-should-be-legalized-as-it-was-before-the-1920spart-1-self-ownership-and-your-right-to-consume-drugs/). This article in no way suggests or condones any of the actions listed. As it has already been established that you are born with the right to consume whatever substance you chose, whether or not the self-proclaimed authority referred to as the “government” of the territory you reside in agrees with you or not. When you are attempting to consume or possessing substances to consume at a later time, no one has the right to interfere with the possession or consumption of the chosen substance. Which means when someone does depending on their actions you have the right to react. As another right you are born with is the right to self-defense.
When it comes to private property people have the right to make their own rules within reason. This includes consuming and or possessing substances on their property. They do not have the right to detain you, assault you, kill you, etc. but can ask you to leave their property and in the event you refuse they technically can physically remove and or have you removed. However other than that they do not have any other rights such as seizing your possession, kidnapping you, detaining you or locking you in a cage. Just the right of getting you to leave their property.
However, as all “governments” are based on force and violence and must have minions that work for them to carry it out and enforce their “rules”, if they find you in possession or in the act of consumption of what they deem as illegal substances they will use force and or violence. These “government agents” (many in funny uniforms, egos, mental illnesses and other issues), obviously fail to recognize the right of self-ownership, will attempt to kidnap, cage, assault and potentially kill you (depending on your reaction) to their violation on the rights you were born with.
This brings us to the question of what do you have the right to do in this situation? Now if the people that were trying to kidnap, take your substances or use violence were not part of the “government’, most people would defend themselves and do whatever they had to, to insure their life, freedom and property were not violated. If they had a weapon or were able to somehow grab one that would inflict deadly or even lethal harm the majority of people would depending on the extent of the threat.
Usually when the assailant is a “government agent” people don’t react the same way. They somehow forget not only their right of self-ownership and to consume what they choose or may not even believe that is a right that is above the “government”. But another right covered by self-ownership and a right you are born with briefly mentioned earlier in the text is the right to self-defense. In their mind usually the “government’s” right (and their fictional authority based on force and violence only), supersedes the rights they were born with. Which logically makes no sense. For the people that believe the rights they were born with supersedes the “government”, it usually comes down to a matter of fear that is indeed very warranted. If you try to defend yourself against “government agents” you most likely will end up dead or with a long prison sentence (as government agents get extra special rights when it comes to defending yourself against one and the crime is much more serious).
The point is not whether or not you act when your rights are being violated by “government agents”, it is that you know that they are violating your rights. And the only reason you didn’t defend these rights are because you are out gunned and outnumbered. Not just in the induvial situation but as a whole in society. You have the right when the situation occurs to defend yourself up to lethal force if needed against any “government agent” that is attempting to violate the rights you were born with. However, having a right and being able to act on it without life altering consequences are two different things. That being said if everyone or even a high percentage of people were to stand up and defend these rights “government agents” many think twice before violating them. That is not an endorsement or avocation to take any action in any situation just an opinion.
The ideal situation if someone were to attempt to defend these rights, when a “government agent” were trying to violate them, the “government agents” would stand down and realize that what they are doing is wrong. That kidnapping, detaining, assaulting or killing someone because their “government” (which is also violating the 9th and 10th amendments usually by doing this) tells them that they have authority that supersedes the authority of life, personal rights and the decision people are born with to consume what they want. And let the person proceed on their way with no actual violence of any kind taking place. But based on the actions of police and the types of people they are now hiring as police this is very unlikely.
